frozen window

GM should know better than to produce windows that do this. The car was poorly designed in so many ways. I love how it looks but the too small rotors, the paint damage with out running boards, the windows "sticking " in cold weather, The suspension noise, poorly designed window switch location, cup holders and storage space is all uncalled for. GM has been building cars for over 100 years, have they learned nothing. A car should never come to market with this many "issues". GM is hurting and I know why. I also would like to know how much they "saved" by not installing an OS handle. GM.....Never again for me.

This was my first winter and I definately had some issues with the driver's side window being frozen. I did not have any wind deflectors/visors and as far as I remember it was only the driver's side. I have had frozen window issues with other cars before, but it's usually all of the windows, not just one. So I just let the heat vent and the icescraper do their thing and then try to open it vs trying to burn out the motor and forcing the issue.

Re: Window Problem
Not sure if your problem is actually the window freezing to the weather stripping, in which case Armor-All'ing the glass rim and the strips will likely cure the problem. If not, you've got a binding problem which will require more detailed diagnosis. Likely a stripped tooth or similar in window drive mechanism.

No I know it was definately a "freezing" issue vs a "binding" because as soon as the ice was removed (via scaper and heat) it opened...just weird, wasn't expecting it, after the 3rd storm I knew exactly what I had to do

Here we go again. This is the second winter for the HHR. Driver window is sticking again at freezing temps. Tonight I started to roll down the window and heard a pop. window went down fine but when I went to put it up the window went up very slowly with 2 inches to go. I couldn't get it to close(temp at 17 degrees). I kept hitting the switch it would go up maybe an 1/8 th inch each time. When I went to roll it down and back up it went down like normal. Going up had the same problem as before. After a half hour of pushing the up button it finally closed. Now don't want to roll it down it's Friday and it would be a little cool over the weekend if I couln't get it up again. Guess it's back to the dealership again. Seems like I am taking it back every Monday for something.

as far as window vents preventing this issue, it doesn't make a difference, I too thought that it would, they just make it easier to scrape because you have a section that doesn't have ice on it. What I found earlier this month when it happened is I took my "parking swipe card" which is the size of a credit card and slid it between the rubber and the window to break up the "Ice" and "wa-lah" no more sticking!!!

All my windows were frozen this morning(but not frost covered-go figure). The temperature had gone from 52 degrees yesterday morning to 17 degrees this morning. We had rain on Sunday night so the combo of the moisture and dropping temperatures gave me the frozen surprise this morning.
