Fuel Filter Location

Fuel Filter Location
I’d like to get some clarity on the actual location where the 2010 (non-SS) fuel filter is.
I’ve seen two different scenarios while looking around here. One, is that there’s a “sock” inside the tank, due to it being the FlexFuel years. Two, that it is located in front of the rear wheel on the gas line, but not totally clear on which rear wheel, as one place states it’s behind the left rear, while another states it’s in front of the left rear wheel when looking toward the rear of the car (which would indicate the RR).
Lastly, is there a secondary filter in the engine compartment (I know many cars have them).

It is a non-serviceable part of the fuel pump assembly.
Yes you need to remove the tank to get to the pump.
Why are you agonizing about it? Is there a problem?
A frequent leak spot is in front of the driver side rear wheel. Both the fuel line and the vapor line tend to rust out under a clip that holds them, where water collects.

I was smelling a little bit of gas odor coming from that side. So I was wondering if it might come from the fuel line, and your reply addresses that.
So, I imagine the best solution may be a clamp or washer type fitting that works for closing up that leak?

If you are cash strapped a couple of stainless hose clamps and a section of flexible alcohol resistant fuel line or a brass compression pipe splice will work.
If it is just odor of gas most likely the vapor line if also a drip the fuel line. If one rusted the other is not far from it. Either can cause seemingly unrelated codes; like P0171/ P0172 etc.
