Getting Flashed By Oncoming Vehicles
I just wanted to find out if anyone else is having this problem. Ever so often, I have oncoming vehicles flashing their lights at me thinking that my High Beams are On. Fact is I very seldom drive with my High Beams On – my headlights seem to be bright enough for most occasions. I did have to get the driver’s side headlight replaced, due to it hazed over on the inside. I have taken it back to my Dealer and had them check to make sure both headlights were aimed properly. They said both headlights were aimed proper and everything was within the manufactures specs. I was following my wife home the other night from diner (I got to transport the in-laws). When we got home she said my light were blindingly bright (On Low Beam). Also, that the driver’s side looked like it was aimed higher than the passenger side. Any ideas as to how I can check this on my own? And, how would I go about re-aiming the headlights if needed??

Tigger, kudos for looking into it.
One of my pet peeves is people who leave their brights on, or those that change there bulbs to something that is really bright to oncoming traffic.
There are some vehicles that just have extra bright lights to oncoming traffic. Some of the projector lights come to mind, but the HHR isn't one of those vehicles. Check your manual as another member said and adjust it/them down a bit.
If you are getting flashed a lot, it is too bright.

If you look carefuly while behind someone you can see a distinctive cutoff line where the beam stops on the upper side...usually a line across the back of a trunk lid...if your lights are above this line then somethings out...otherwise they just be bright.....
Even worse is somebody with driving/fog lights that don't take the time to check adjustment....

Headlight adjustment is simple & can be done if minutes..
I always set mine myself.. So I know they are right..
Dealer tech may be in a hurry or having a bad day..Who knows ? Do it yourself & know what you have..
When I do get flashed at, (which is not often) there is usually a cop car hiding round the bend..
PS: When I see the cops hiding, I flash (warn) as many on-coming vehicles as I can too.. (old truck driver habits)..
