At gm dealer having alignment done and confused
Well its a long story but I am at a gm dealer with my ss that I just picked up 5 hours away that was supposed to have an alignment done before I picked it up
Well it pulled to the left on the way home
Had firestone check it since I had to buy a tire to match the 3 new that where on it.
Firestone said toe and camber where out on right front.
They quoted me 80 dollars for an alignment including grinding the strut to adjust.or $150.00 for lifetime alignment
Brought to gm assuming they would do for free seeing how its a gm certified car 3 year 36000 mileage warranty I bought etc.and seeing how it was just done.
Got called back and they said the adjust camber or caster was.2 out they said it would cost an additional $180.00 they said it should be fine as is
Drove a few miles with the alignment tech and it is still not what it should be
He said he would get a tech 2 hook up to steering wheel and obd2
I am not happy that one I am paying for an alignment and 2 they are not even doing a complete alignment for me.

whats the mileage? you could have a caliper hanging up....they can miss that with there 10,000,000 point inspection. and i would call that dealer asap and complain up a storm considering the distance you drove for the car. i promise the SS will make it up to you

Have them check for a radial pull. My new set had one bad one that caused the car to pull right. It was radial pull. I got it replaced free where I bought them.

If the camber is out, it can be adjusted by using AC Delco PN #45K18035 Kit, Camber & Alignment, HHR 2006-2011.
The dealer should know that and be able to install it and correct the camber back to spec if a "Radial Pull" is ruled out.

Ok I finally calmed down
BadassB:
I thought about the hanging up caliper I just keep forgetting to check the temperature of the
rotors after driving.
The mileage is at 53,000 miles and it definentley was babied from what I can see
Is there a way for them to actually check for radial pull
The dealer said to swap tires front to back
A friend who does alignments in another shop told me to rotate left to right if it is not any better.
I assume I can do that with the potenza 760 tires I have they just say outside on them and no direction indicators on them.
843de Thanks for the part # on the bolt kit, that is the same for the SS I assume?looks the same.
The dealer was not even familiar withthe bolt kit
the part where they wanted to charge $180.00 extra to elongate the hole was just crazy to me.
kbo
Ya that makes sense to me swapping them side to side
I drove the car around on a couple different highways it appears to be better not sure if I would say 100 percent but it is better.
Thanks again for the help I ended up paying somewhere around $70.00 including tax for this
thats the best he said he could do.
I am hoping and am confident that Gm will chime in and help out with this
Just thinking that it should be aligned for what I payed and for all the money I spent on the warrantys extra.

Yes, the dealer can check for radial pull. The shop manual has a section with troubleshooting flow chart to identify which tire is the culprit IF radial pull is the issue and it sounds like it is from your saying it is better when you swapped left to right. I had the same issue (pulled left) after the first rotation on the stock SS michelins. The dealer tweaked the alignment and said it was "out a bit", still pulled left. I Swapped left front to left rear and it was a new car. Took it back to the dealer, they checked it out and wound up replacing the bad tire under warranty. Car has been fine since. Hope it works out for you.
