Gotta HHR so i'm here
Yeeeeehaaaaa after over a week I can post..
Well here we go... hi all.
After reading a LOT of posts on this forum I knew some things to look for.
I bought my wifey a Black 2.2L LT 09 from a individual today. Got 31 mpg on the way home / about 70 miles
It had the dreaded loose paint [not rust] under the door lips. It has 34,+++ miles so the dealer repaired all 4 doors, looked like only the fronts needed it.
Here is one of my questions for now. The rear door flares have the road rash.
It looks like you might b able to peel the plastic shields off and replace them?
Would just mudflaps keep these safe or should we opt for runningboards to?
I see pictures of a add on panel or shield, whats the story on those?
Sorry if this a dead horse but I cant find the info. I'm a lil sloooooow.
What a great site.
thanks KK4

Welcome, Greetings and Congrats on the new ride!
The anti-chip film can be removed from the rear doors for repainting, the plastic shields were on the '06's and early production '07's. You might be able to scrounge up a set on e-bay or by placing a want ad here in the classifieds.
In my opinion the running boards are the best way to keep the rear doors from developing a case of road rash, but there are many here who have had good luck with mudflaps too. Its really a budgetary issue as the whether you want to shell out the $500 or so to get running boards, or go with mudflaps that can be had for less than $50.

Hi I'm back
Looks like it will b runningboards and flaps for HHR.
Is the dealer the best place to purchase these?
I have read MANY posts and looked for a DIY on the rear door plastic film.
Does it have to b painted? Before or after instal? How hard is it to peal the old off and install new ?
thanks all

OK I called a dealer and the plastic is just stick on I guess.
Can someone tell me if there are 2 different runningboards from gm?
Maybe a regular and 1 for the SS?
If so what 1 do I want?
thanks KK4
