Grease fittings?

As the thread title suggests, I'm looking for grease fittings

I figured this must have been covered here before, but a search came up empty, so, here goes. My '07 HHR has 19,000 clicks on her, and I figured it's time for some grease. So, I run her up on ramps, change the oil, and while it's draining, I begin to look around, grease gun in hand.

Well..... Where are they?

Are there no grease fittings on newer cars?

Yes, that is correct.....no grease fittings. The HHR supposedly has "lifetime" greased components.

no fittings, very few car manufactures have any sus parts with fittings, when you replace parts sometimes they have fittings. this is so the parts will wear out sooner and will need to be replaced. even with fittings they seem to wear out quick.

When you pay the dealer for a grease job, what do they actually lubricate if there are no grease fittings? They never fail to take my money!

One thing I find a bit odd; if there is nothing to lubricate, why does the owners manual recommended a particular chassis lubricant?

Their wallets apparently.

About the only things that can be "greased" are the various door and hood hinges & latches, as well as lubricating the door seal trim (if they do that). Basically they do stuff that we can easily do ourselves but at a higher cost.

My dealership service department is going to miss me...I used to get oil changes, tire rotations, etc. done there. Now I do it myself.

I don't think there have grease fittings on cars for quite a few years actually. There are none on my '96 Altima, and I don't think there were any on an '89 Ford Tempo I once owned. (Sadly owned I might add!!)

Okee then, no grease it is... My next newest vehicle is a '97 GMC truck, and it has plenty of fittings. So did everything I've had to date(40+ cars/trucks). We'll see if this one outlasts the others....

great little car, nonetheless!

My minivan had a "sealed front end" also. Everything was fine for the first 5 years. Then the volume of rain caused the steering to squeak when I turned it. My local repair shop cut into the boots covering the steering joints and lubricated it for me. Problem solved! They just don't expect us to keep our cars long enough to see a problem.

Just a little info....

Greaseless fittings is NOT a new concept. I had it on a 1967 'Cuda. Course it could be said that GM probably perfected the idea from what Chrysler had

Had trouble on a vacation someplace in the Ozarks. Pulled into an all-night Shell gas station and the guy replaced them and greased it for $3.00. Long time ago. But I was prepared to pay $25-30. I was a happy camper
