Gurgle gurgle?

I'm new to the HHR world, just since November. So this may be nothing...

I have a 2009 SS.

When I start it, for the first few starts from a standing stop I hear a gurgling noise from behind the dash, like fluid rushing through with bubbles in it.

Is this normal?

Welcome to the '09 SS family, I hope that is the only quirk we have in common.

Fill your coolant it is low, seems like every 6 months or 15,000 miles it needs attention, wish I could tell you where it went, but it's gone. It takes multiple fills to really get the system full, then fill the overflow to the correct level, it's hard to see, get a flash light. These critters run so hot I think it is vaporized.

Happily my dealer said low coolant might be a sign of something worse so they checked it out under warranty.

They poked and prodded but couldn't find anything. Drained it, pressurized it over night, everything happy.
They put some dye in to see where it comes out in a few hundred miles.

Up shot: topped off with new coolant and no gurgle! (and heater works great!)

thanks for the service advice!

Paul-

The overflow tank level is so low it's very hard to see..Plus it doesn't hold much..

I raised the level in my tank by about 1-1/2" higher & marked it with a black sharpie.. Easy to see & more reserve in tank.

And most important, not so full that it would overflow when really Hot & running hard etc..

Almost 3 yrs now & no problems.
