half shaft removal

Mine is a 2008 automatic, I just put a short prybar in there and gave it a sharp rap, you do not need the slide hammer, or for that matter the seal guides (for installation). The real problem was getting the "stub shaft" off so that it could be reused, you need a "bearing splitter" and a small hammer to pop it off. The bearing splitter is for loan at Advance/Zone/Pep,....but needs to be ordered, it is basically a double U clamp that goes over the splines of the shaft, but not over the stub. I was incredibly lucky in that there is a small transmission shop in my neighborhood and the owner was working on his Harley on the holiday weekend that I found I needed a "special" tool!
