The symptoms seem like a weak battery but that didnt fix it. A buddy seems to thinks its the fuel pump going out. It turns over several times before it starts almost as if it cant build up enough fuel pressure. Any ideas?

Same thing happened on my wife's '04 Mazda 3. EVAP solenoid was sticking so every time you vented the fuel system (i.e. removed gas cap to add fuel) it would take about 10 seconds of cranking before it built enough pressure to close the solenoid and start the car. Only took 5 trips to the stealership to get it fixed...

Have you tried turning the key on & listen to the Elec fuel pump, when it slows (should be quickly) try to start your ride.
