Hatch Struts groaning
Actually only one is making a noise when I first open the hatch. Never really made any noise until it got cold. Is this something that can be "greased" or would it need a replacement?
Also right rear passenger door is really tight to open in the cold...which contact points need to be lubed up.
Did I mention I hate cold weather?

Try a white lube on the door hinges pivot points and on the strut pivots, and if it is moisture freezing to the weather stripping that is making the door stick, wipe the weather stripping with a cloth with silicon spray on it, don't use the lube on the weather stripping. Wipe the strut rod with the silicon also but the unit may be going bad and only solution is a new one. or you can do the following
1. Use ear plugs so you don't hear it and
2. Move south

i wouldn't call the sound from my hatch a "groan" it's more of a crunch, like two sheet metal parts rubbing together momentarily. i used white lube on all the pivot points to no avail. it happens the first time hatch is opened every time. any ideas?
