Have you guys used NON dealers for repairs?
I have no issues right now but I am out of warranty and wondering if most shops can work on these cars. I hesitate to take my car to dealership for service and repairs, They seem to charge more and find more issues.
I know their mechanics are probably better and far more experienced though. Is it worth the dealership fees or is the car fairly easy to work on as the engine is very common.

IMO, I will probably take my car to a different shop once I'm out of warranty, just because of the price. I would think since most shops have ASE certified mechanics, and the 2.2 or 2.4 is a common engine, I think they would all be good.
Each shop might be different though, and some better than others. Who's to say a dealer isn't good. You just assume it is because you bought your car there and they charge more.

Once I'm out of warranty I don't use dealers for anything but reprogramming computers and the few other things that are pretty much dealer only fixes. Most things I do myself. For what I can't do, I have a few reputable independent shops in my area. Web sites like this one are a huge help when trying to figure out what's wrong with something.
