'06 w/28K and had to have rotors turned at 15K and they are pulsing again at 28K.
Working in one small rural community and living in another... the car gets a daily highway romp of 10 miles in both directions, but it does do stop & go's for business every day.
I do like that ceramic pads were OEM. I was among the first to try ceramics in this area on my '96 Riviera (couldn't stand the red dust on my wheels with the standard pads) and I put well over a 100K on that supercharged beasty and had virtually NO problems... well a couple of citations... but I digress
TOO MANY HHR ROTOR PROBLEMS IN SO FEW MILES... take that GM!

 

Gotta admit, my answer isn't fair. I don't have any problems yet, only 10,000 miles. But I will shortly be ordering the brake rotors and pads just to have the upgrade.

 

Are you getting different wheels so you can see the rotors better?

 

Had them since 5000 miles, keeps going away though. But it has been bad this last time. If all they do is turn the rotors it willalways come back. I have never had a new car do this before.

 

I have 17,700 0n mine. It's going in tomorrow to have the rotors looked at. The steering wheel shakes when I am braking.

 

You have almost identical miles as mine (17,200) and the same issue, shaking steering wheel while braking...

 

Update:

I got my HHR back from the dealer. They installed new rotors, pads and a new type of backing plate. I don't know the specifics on the new design, if it's to keep dirt off of the rotors better, or if they somehow keep the rotors from warping? In any event, my HHR is now up for sale. It's not the rotor problems, rather a family decision on what we need for transportation. It's a fun car, but I already have a '70 Corvette for fun. Thanks all.

 

Got my ride back this evening. They turned the rotors under the warranty. While it was in I had them fix the rattle in the headliner behind the sunroof and the outside temp reading. The headliner is fixed but the outside temp reading looks like it might be stuck at 50 degrees.

 

If yours does it again, you might want to ask them about a bulletin (TSB?) on this. I had the new rotors, pads and dust shields installed under warranty. The receipt says "parts order per bulletin", so they've got something going on to remedy this permanently. I am skeptical of turned rotors fixing it. Here are some numbers, which I think are part numbers from the order:

Some people may notice a brake noise and/or pulsation on brake apply. The condition can be worse if you travel on dirt or gravel roads frequently.

This condition may be due to dust, dirt, and debris intruding between the inner brake pad and rotor.
