Headlight problem

Head lights on a 06 HHR will not come on on low beam only. High beams work. I've replaced the switch thinking that was the problem still no low beams. I will next replace the bulbs themselves. I did not do that first because they both went out at the same time. I have never seen two bulbs go out at the same time so I did not change them first. Anybody have trouble like this?

What about fuses and the relays? I believe there are 4 seperate fuses
(2 for lows,2 for highs). 2 relays(1 for lows,1 for highs.)

I would check the bulbs. I have had this problem before I don't think they failed at the same time but just close to the same time. I have had customers drive with one head lamp out and just didn't know one bulb was out until the other one failed

Turns out it was the bulbs but what a pain!. Have to remove the dust cover under the front wheel well. The replacement bulb has a sealing gasket that the original did not have tough to replace. I thank you for the information. Long live CHEVROLET!

The old bulbs have the gasket also some times they stay on the head lamp housing when the old bulbs were removed. I'm guessing you removed the gasket off the new bulb to get them to fit. I have changed bulbs on the hhr without removing the complete fender well. It's a reach to get to them and you have to go by feel. Glad your up and running again.

"you have to go by feel" that's an understatement when you only partially remove the liner!

You are probably correct about the old gasket staying in the housing, every time I change one, the gasket sticks in the housing, which also has to be removed "by feel" I never considered just leaving it there and pulling off the gasket on the new one....
