Well i noticed the pop crack sound once or twice and didnt hear it again for a long time but in the past month it has been alot!! ignition in on or off radio on or off didnt matter, But what i did notice is that it seemed to happen more while getting in and out of the hhr!!!
Now with that said i have done tons of work on cars and tracked several frustrating wire/electrical issuse!!! So i sat it the hhr one afternoon and just moved my foot around pressing on the floor in certian areas and have found that slight to medium pressure on the foot pad on the drivers side upper left corner will pop or make the radio crack!! also just beneath the brake pedal with pedal against top of my foot !! So i am assumming there are bad connections or bare wires touching the floor pan in turn grounding a hot wire!! So i am calling my dealer tommorrow to have it checked out you all may want to test your hhr`s in the same manner !!! just a heads up!!! thanx Tony

I have had mine fixed 2 times, now it needs it again. I mean I had the TSB done, with the computer, not the disk.
The two times were before the T924 Muffler and the CGS.

 

Karen i dont think it has anything to do with software but simply a bare wire or uninsolated connection under the carpet that pops or cracks when stepped on just right period!! try sittin in it and pushin your foot down in different spots and see if it makes a pop noise i can now cause it at will in mine in 2 locations!!
