As oneton suggested, try a different dealer.

Thanks for the replies, but I think that I've about reached the end of the trail on this one.
I've spoken with two different dealers and Chevrolet, and basically determined that it can't
be done easily, or at all with stock parts or known procedures.

Does anyone know if the trunk touchpad can be replaced with a key'ed lock?

Look aftermarket and local shops. That's how we got the cruise installed. Dealership was no help and told us it can't be done cheap. They were proven wrong.
