Hello from New Mexico/Having trouble with my SS.

And if the check Engine Light came on again, you need to get the code read - it really is needed to help the diagnosis.

Has anyone ever put injector cleaner into their SS?
I did the second night i owned it and now it smokes.I accidentally put in 88 octane not knowing it requires 91.i freaked out after reading the owners manual and put in Lucas Injector cleaner.Been smoking off and on since but it billowed smoke at first. No engine lights are on or any trouble codes?Since then ive ran down the gas and replaced it with 91.still smokes though.wonder if it will go away.

So. In posting up another thread about the same problem, your'e saying that you don't believe the previous advice that was given ?
Plus, you're failing to mention that there was no oil touching the dipstick. And what happened to "I"m gonna take it to the dealer" ?
Go ahead. Keep driving it and hope the problem just goes away. But, remember you were warned of what could happen.

well the oil mark issue was because i had the car running.after i shut it off the oil marked.as for the same problem on another thread. It was about the P0014 code and with my oil level, turbo failing ,etc.after running a backtrack.the only thing that was done different was the injector cleaner. My other thread was advice for smoking from possible low oil, failing turbo,etc..This thread is asking if anyone ever added it before.so its actually a different thread but thanks for your opinion.so has anyone ever added injector cleaner and how was the outcome?again.

firemangeorge, thanks for the advice on the other thread.but before i go to a dealership for something that seems little.i researched all the signs for failing turbo and it doesnt sound like thats the problem.i got no codes going on now and after calming down, ive come down to injector cleaner.at the end of the month i am scheduled for the dealership.

Sorry, but don't think I can help you.
Between the 2 threads, there are too many different things you state. 1st thread you stated you topped off the oil. In this thread, you say it was OK because you checked it while running.
1st thread you said a CEL came back. Now you say there isn't one.
We even ask if you could clarify the mileage and the CEL you had back in the other thread but you failed to reply there.
I'll just leave it at: Good Luck. Hope it turns out OK.

Billowing smoke from the tailpipe of any vehicle is a major, major problem. Did I say major?
If the smoke is stark white, there is a high probability that coolant is getting into a combustion chamber. This should not happen, ever.
If the smoke is bluish, then a lubricant is being burned. Not entirely devastating, depending upon the volume of smoke and the circumstances under which it becomes manifest. A little puff upon start-up is not unusual for high-performance engines, but continuous emission of blue smoke means you are up against a time limit before internal engine components need replacement.
Accidentally putting 88 octane fuel in an engine which requires 91 octane fuel will not cause billowing smoke from the tailpipe. Neither will putting injector cleaner in the fuel cause visible tailpipe emissions.

will any signs of turbo failure cause a Trouble code?Ive never had a turbo car before.is there a warning light or code for a failing turbo?Im confused. As for my writing skills.they lack in some areas when describing things. So i can get confusing.Im not much of a computer person. As for advice from others trying to make someone out as a lier or maybe someone thats dumb on a HHR SS website is really childish. either you help or shut your mouth and play with your car.Be constructive and help without all the unessecary bull comments about, wahhh, you said this, wahh you said that.Isnt there other threads to follow and hassle.Rather than new members?Like i said thanks for the ADVICE but move on.Im a retired Iraq veteran looking for real advice from a REAL mechanic. Not argue with someones kid.I have little patience for a person being a smartass.

Thanks kornallred for the advice.would any of those signs cause a code? after clearing the code the right way and after replacing the part for code P0014.The car is still clear.well Thanks again.I will be going to a dealership at the end of the month as scheduled to find out.Wont be coming back here for ADVICE.Next time I know that maybe the dealership is who i need to run to like everyone else.
