Just because hub was the first thing that came to mind does not mean that's where to throw your money.

Sounds like you lack some experience & knowledge with suspensions, maybe paying for a alignment to find out what's broke would save you in the long run. If something is broken or worn DON'T let them make adjustments, you'll be back.

Welcome to the site. X-3 as to what everyone said. One more thing to check for the sound.
Strut mounts make noise when bad also.If the bearing is bad it will make a grinding sound. Or mine did at least. Not sure if hitting a curb would damage it.

There are as many different descriptions of the sound a bad hub makes as there are the sound a bad flex pipe makes. And that number is very close to the number of navels there are.
