Help with connecting DRL module
Hello,
I would like to convert my factory installed fog lamps (2008 LT) into daylight running lights (mandatory here in Switzerland). I plan to swap out the H11 halogen bulbs and insert corresponding LED lamps. I will get myself a DRL module (see picture below), which automatically turns on the LED lamps when starting the engine and automatically turns off the LED lamps when the low-beam/position lamps come on.
Now the big question is: where do I have to connect the DRL module's cables to ("Ignition+, Earth and Power of Sidelight")? Any help is much appreciated.
Regards,
Patrick

Well, the fog lamps go OFF when the high beam are on, right? Seems like a small bit of logic could get something working without the expense. And there is a DRL relay under the hood.
I'm 4 pints in right now so logic is not certain.

I have recently tackled this project and managed to get it to work. The goals were:
- when turning the ignition to ON/RUN, the fog lamp LEDs should automatically turn on
- when using low beam (parking lamps go automatically on, too), the fog lamp LEDs should automatically turn off
- when manually pressing the fog lamp button with low beam on, the fog lamp LEDs should turn on ( meaning default behaviour shouldn't change)
Here's how I have done it:
- replaced the H11 incandescent fog lamps (2008 LT, factory installed) with LED ones
- spliced a new additional wire into the left fog lamp's already existing positive pole wire (had to remove the front wheel to get decent access to the lamps and all) and ran this new wire through the firewall to the passenger compartment fuse box. Inside there was more than enough space to place my DRL module (basically a relay I guess), connecting the new wire to the module's positive output (didn't have to use the module's negative output as the fog lamps are already connected to the negative pole/chassis by default)
- spliced a new additional wire into the left parking lamp's already existing positive pole wire and ran this new wire through the firewall to the passenger compartment fuse box, connecting this wire to the DRL module's dim control wire.
- connected the DRL module's positive wire to the windshield wiper fuse (no. 15), using one of those double fuse connectors
- connected the DRL module's negative wire to the chassis screw inside the fuse box
Et voilà, it works as intended.
Interestingly, I only had to wire the left fog lamp to the DRL module. The fog lamps seem to be interconnected by default so when you run current to only one of them, both will light up.

Good question. On the one hand I didn't feel comfortable connecting to the fuse box in the engine bay (didn't see a good way to pass my cables into the sealed box). On the other hand the factory DRL seems to have been changed/reprogrammed/rewired for the European market. The relays and fuses are there, but there is no DRL function whatsoever.
