Yes, there is a plastic plug near the middle of the hatch door. You have to pull it out of hole it lives in then use a screw driver to feel around until you hit the manual release for the door.

Okay grizzly,I give. What's the connection between the brake cable and battery cable.

I get the feeling something is left out. Things don't make sense.

He said he pulled the parking brake and slid into his parking spot at work. I figure he may have had something loose in the battery area that might have caused his problems.

On my '06 I seem to remember seeing a smaller wire attached to the positive battery cable that had something like a fuse in it. If he managed to damage that wire I don't think the car will start.

Just checked battery connections are all clean and firmly attached. Checked the red fuse in the trunk and is fine. Car is still doing the same thing.

Well, I'm stumped then,... may be time to call the hook and have it taken to a shop.

Until you get a multi meter and start checking the voltage at certain points, all you're doing now is trying to get lucky and find a loose connection.
Start at the battery then work forward.

Fwiw. The airbag light being on. It should always come on when the ignition is turned to the "On" position. It may not complete it's status check(then turn off) IF the car does not start.

I've been sitting here smoking my pipe and drinking some coffee and thinking about this. I wonder now if maybe the neutral switch might have gotten out of position.

I still wonder why you decided to use the parking brake to slide in to your parking spot but kinda figured you might be young enough to think it was just fun.

^^ Yes. I've been guilty of this too. But I no longer do. IT hurts the suspension a fair bit, and I like my Ride.

Didn't catch if it was mentioned. 5sp or Auto?
