My 06 has been good to me for the most part. I'm at 46K miles right now. To be honest, I think I see more problems with the 08+ models than the 06/07. Why, no idea. Just keep records and receipts in case this lawsuit goes through. You may get your money back. Happened with my old truck, replaced the wiper motor, year later, recalled. This was all well out of warranty.

Smile power steering in hhr

Hi Iam new to this but anyway... I have a 08 hhr lt i my power steering light started a few days ago when i was headed to work..called dealership and said they couldnt test it if light was not on of course when you turn it off and turn it back on it resets itself..then it did it again yesterday and alot today..so i pulled it into a chevy dealer and they replaced the powersteering motor... I have only had the car since March of 2010 and so far it had to replace to headlight bulbs and tail light bulbs and now this I hope this isnt the way it is gonna be with car... We had a 99 chevy truck with a hundred fourty seven thousand miles on it and never put any money into it except normal things... it was wrecked and they totaled it out thanks to teenager on the phone rearending me... my hhr has 54 thousand on it... and i was lucky my hhr is gm certified so I didnt have to pay for the motor today... good luck with you hhr

Just ordered my Power Steering Motor today. 55K miles on the odometer. As you may or may not know. The Cobalt currently has a recall for this motor and the Malibu has now been added to the list for recalls. When I called the parts department to order it the guy was like "Umm...is this part of a recall" I said I wished. The Cobalts and now the Mailbu yes, but for some reason not the HHR. He said well its the exact same part, I am showing we have 12 in stock but they are all ear marked for replacement on customer vehicles covered under the recall. I said I know that, but GM refuses to put the HHR under the recall. He told me to talk to the service department and see what they could do.

He transferred me to Service. I explained that the Cobalt and now Mailbu have a recall on this exact same motor. The HHR isn't included yet but some dealerships have been replacing them anyway. The guy said...well give me your VIN and let me look it up and call you back. 2 hours later he calls me back and says "Sir there are no active recalls for your vehicle" Dumbass. I know that. Thanks for listening the first time.

Yet another issue with my 06 2lt

Well today while backing out of a parking spot my steering seemed to freeze for a second and then make a noise and the Power steering light popped up on the DIC. I shut the car off and restarted it and it was fine, so I thought it was just a glitch.
As I was turning a corner relaxed and one handed, it happened again and it pulled me hard in the opposite direction of the turn. Luckly it was at low speed and no other cars around or it would have been an accident.

I can deal with the rattles and stupid headliner and dash storage issues, but this one I would consider very dangerous.

I've read up and thousands of Cobalts and Saturns (mostly ions) are having the same issue, then I read here the Malibus are having issues too.

I really liked this car but boy this one has been a PITA. I've had the sunroof windscreen issue, the hard shift trans issue (Exh./int. sensors), the unfixable steering column rattle even after replacement, the warped rotor problem, replaced the sway bar links, remote start needs to be reprogrammed every so often, the engine is noisy, the metal is paper thin and dents if you drive too fast, the exaggerated MPG claims....I've never had to work so hard to like a vehicle before.

I called the dealer and they said $125.00 for the part alone. I called back to get a part number and he said he could sell it to me for $104.00 but its 5-7 days out. He also rubbed it in my face that they do free overnight shipping on the recalled vehicles but thats not me so basically tough *****.

Has anyone check GMpartsdirect or rockauto on these yet? Stupid question I guess since thats where I'm heading now.

BTW Dealer told me the PN was 20763801 and has been superceeded to 20995579.

So does anyone have a step by step how to on replacing this unit?

Do you have a clear picture of where that bolt is?

I am picking up my motor from the dealer tomorrow and my mechanic said it would be a "couple of hours" and its $80/hour...which means it could be $240 in labor So if I can do it myself, then I will.
