Do you have a clear picture of where that bolt is?

If you can change oil, you can do this.

CHevyMGR do you have a current PN for that?

GMpartsdirect shows the first#20763801 for 100.00 and the second# (dealer said it was superceeded to this number)20995579 is only $58.00

Which one is correct?

EDIT:

After further review, I notice gmpartsdirect automactically changes the 20763801 to the new 20995579 number which is NON RETURNABLE. Its $59.75 plus a $40.00 core charge plus S&H which leaves a total of 112.70 possibily + tax. I havent ordered it yet.

Could you still lease confirm this is the correct PN#

GM takes your old motor, rebuilds it and sells it under the new number. The price dropped because of the Cobalt recall. GM always drops the price of a recall part right before the recall is announced. This saves them on what they pay the dealer for the recall work.

I will tomorrow when I go to work. That price is too much. Try your local dealer and see what they will sell it for, plus when you give them your old motor you get your core charge taken off. Sometimes telling them you work at a shop gets you a jobber price too, it works on our parts counter sales people.

Don't thank me, ChevyMgr's the one that did all the work. I just happened to have that individual link bookmarked because I was planning to take a look this weekend

Part number 20995579 is correct. GM list is $104.82. Check other sources such as crateenginedepot.com or your local dealer. Everything is negotiable so see what they will do.

My tech doesn't remove the knee bolster, due to the hassel. He states if you get your head up in there and take a look, you will be able to access the motor without removal of the bolster. He also said HHR's are 30 minute jobs for him, unlike the Cobalts that are 15 minute jobs.

And everyone that gave out thanks.....You're welcome and good luck.

I called a dealership here in Chico that I deal with through the parts store I work at and they sold it to me for 78.62. Its about 5 days out but I have next week off so not really a big deal.

I will take alot a pics and show how its done when it arrives.

I found it yesturday and it seems to be a pretty easy job as long as you can lay backwards and upside down on the floor with your butt on the seat and your legs up through the sunroof

If I tried that they would have to cut the car apart to get me out.....

So if I call my dealer you're telling me they will quote me less than an hour of labor to do this? This is my first weekend off in almost a year and next week my wife is off as well. I would much rather have someone else do it but don't want to pay 100+bucks, but they charge 80/hour in labor and I am willing to let them do it for less than 80bucks.
