I have a Spring Edition and the dash is no differnet than in any other HHR I've seen. I've seen a few other SE's and none of them have had this issue.

I kind of think that the manufacturer puts a Thin Coat of Paint over the Dash as to Help Blend In the Passenger Side Air Bag ? Maybe yours had the Air Bag Deploid at one time and this is a symptom of a Repair Job !

Ours is an "08" and has what might be considered a Satin Finish! I have put Armoral on it to obtain a Deeper Black Color
which then also gave it a Shine ! When I installed a Black Leather SS Wheel I thought maybe the Ebony Interior Color might have been Charcol or Dark Grey ! Applying a small amount of Armoral to all of the Plastic pieces turned the plastic the desired Black color !

It does not look like "peeling" to me. It appears as though the grainy surface texture is "de-laminating" from the base structure over the gauge hood. Too much intense ultraviolet exposure maybe.....you gotta watch more than your skin at those latitudes...

just a guess.

I believe that. In all my years in the tire biz; all of the top tire makers voided any warranty claims on tires that had prolonged use of Armor-All. For some reason it migrates into certain materials releasing the bond.
