Well so much for my help I stand corrected LOL so now add key ignition to the list . As far as the scuffed up dash ya I would be upset hope they fix it for you . What year HHR if you trade it in you will take a bath price wise I know my HHR I paid 22 grand 4 years into loan so I think I owe around 8 grand and I still might be upside down . Like I said I really do like it but man the resale really blows on these . When it is paid off I will give to my son it will be his 1st car he is 14 1/2 now great 1st car uh and he loves the 20s I put on and I will be buying a GM Volt if they manage to keep price around 30 grand but I think they are now estimating around 40 grand if so I will have to wait and find something else in a 1 1/2 .

I got a good deal when I bought my HHR last March. 2008 LT1 with 6000 miles and chrome wheels $11,995 I think trade in is only about $9000 and some change.

They had trouble getting the new ignition in, not sure what the problem was. Looks like they were having trouble getting the steering off, my dash is now scuffed up. If it is still brothering me on Monday they are gong to hear about it.

Left from the dealer today and went off to find a 2010 Equinox. The dealer that fixed my HHR didn't have any. Turns out that nobody has any around here. If I had found what I wanted I think the HHR would have been gone today, even had my title with me. Going to have to order one if I want it. After driving the loaner for a couple days (Malibu) I not happy with the comfort level of the HHR.
Jim I'm sorry to hear that you are having some bad luck. AS far as comfort is concerned what model HHR do you have. Cause the 2LT seems to have everything other than the kitchen sink. I hope the new year brings better luck. HHR forever.

Both times about a year after owing (bought in 06) and happened twice within 6 months has not happened again . I will bet you it is the same problem as mine . If you go to search and put key stuck in ignition you will find thread about it . I love my HHr but there are alot of problems more than anyother car I have had (new car) . Here is a small list . bad rotors , (key problem) , (water on floor) , (lose fuses from assembly) , steering column, (gas pedal) (door handle) . The ones with perenthesis are the ones I have experenced . I have had a PT Cruiser , Matrix and my Ford f350 all new and all a few problems but seems to me the HHr has had more but I still love the car I wish they had done a better job but hey I think it will all shake out sooner or later . My 06 only had 3 yr warrenty so it over and my wife wanted me to buy extended but I decided to take a chance so far so good knock on wood .
Can anyone elaborate on this particular problem? We recently had a $440 power steering, repair, on our HHR LS '06 (which only has 63,000 miles), I think they had to replace a "motor" for the power steering, or something, which may have been in the steering column, not sure (will have to get out our repair receipt from our records, but it definitely was the power steering that went bad in some way), would like to know more about this particular problem listed in this post (highlighted, above) ~ Thanks so much!! :)

I really hope GM reads these posts! I'm getting nervous about keeping my HHR beyond warrenty eventhough I know it won't be worth squat in another year.

I highly doubt that they read it, I mean if they did wouldn't they continue making the HHR. My Granddad was an engineer for GM years ago and whenever you have to many bosses you have too many problems. Besides the HHR, I do feel like GM is headed in the right direction.

It's nothing an 2LT could fix. The steering wheel is too far away, no "useable" center arm rest, driving position (I have a power seat), width of the drivers seat and space. It's just an over-all comfort thing, just not a comfortable relaxed driving position.

Question

I suppose driving around in a Malibu for a few days might make anyone not like going back to the HHR. These are things you should think through before buying a car. We're perfectly happy with all aspects of our HHR, and plan on keeping it for many Years.
