HHR newbie with headliner question, not what you'd expect.
Ok so I've used the search feature for the past 4 days trying to find out what exactly is going on with this half-inch hole in my headliner is. I found out that there's supposed to be "mood light" and/or "god light (my personal favorite). Well, I bought this 2007 HHR LS used with 30,500 miles on it. It's a "Certified General Motors" vehicle. How the heck was this overlooked by my dealer? They told me they will "patch it over", but now after discovering that a light belongs there, what should I ask the dealer to do now? Shouldn't I expect this certified car to have all of its original equipment? I'd think so. What do I need to ask the dealer for? I', including a pic for reference. Oh yeah and the left rear seat had a missing headrest...oof.
BTW, I've had a great time browsing the forums since my purchase. I really love my HHR. I traded in my 2002 Nissan Xterra 4x4 for it. Thanks for reading.

Looks like who ever certified that car was quite blind and didn't know what was suppose to go there.
Looks like you're going to need a new headliner as well as the "god light" as you like to call it. Don't know how the dealer is going to feel about replacing that at no charge since you drove off with it looking like that.

Don't take this the wrong way, but how did YOU miss that rip and the missing headrest before you left the dealer? I check EVERYTHING and refuse to sign ANYTHING until the vehicle is to my liking. If anything defective or missing isn't repaired before you leave the lot the dealer can claim that it happened while the car was in YOUR possession.
Sorry if this comes off as harsh, but the only person that can watch out for you is YOU.

Nope I had it well documented before I left the dealership. I just didn't know that there was supposed to be a light there. I asked my dealer and he said something to the effect that "probably the previous owner installed a DVD or GPS unit there, but we'll fix that"...I said its a deal if you can fix that. So yeah, I caught that right off, documented it and I have an appointment this Tuesday morning to get a few other things taken care of. Thanks for the help guys, great forums you have here.

Looks like whoever owned the car before you didn't like the light and ripped it out. Either that or it was used as a "parts car" during its demo life. I think they owe you a new headliner if that was noticed prior to sale. I would have probably looked for another vehicle after that. No telling what else is "missing" on the car.

Cool, then I'll be requesting a brand new headliner tomorrow. I don't see how I'd be satisfied with a patch job at all. I just didn't know if this was asking for too much from the dealer considering that it is a used car. Thanks for the input guys. I can't wait to get the mods started.

Even used, it's a lot of money you are handing over, it's not like you are buying an 89 Corsica from Honest Sam's Used Cars and Rib Shack.
I still would not have taken delivery until all issues were resolved, though.

Great news. The headliner is being replaced with a brand new one tomorrow. Is this a good time to get my blue LED from Radio Shack and have the dealer install it for my mood light? Kidding of course but I'm glad the dealer decided to do the right thing.
