hhr quarter panel skin
does anyone know where to buy a quarter skin? i have a large unrepairable dent and all i need is a skin, the dealer wants $1300 for the whole structure and the junk yards wants $350 for a cut off used one there was one on ebay but it was the wrong side and pick up only. the guy wouldn't answer my request where he got it.

Yes as Don said I did post something on HHR quarter panel skins, and just what is involved.
"The rear fender/quarter is part of the body side/door frame assembly, they are one continuous stamping as can be seen in the image below. A competent body shop can section the stamping and just replace the rear quarter panel where your damage is, but it requires tons of work. Done improperly, it can destroy the structural integrity of the vehicle and render it unsafe to drive. Get an estimate on removing the dent, chances are it can be popped out and repaired without resorting to panel replacement."
HHR's in salvage yards are hard to find, so $350 for a decent used quarter might be a good price, just make sure whoever does the work is up to the task. Also don't forget that the inner and outer panels are both bonded and welded together.
