HHR Rattling sound when driving over uneven surfaces

Has anyone else experienced a strange rattle coming from somewhere between the driver side dashboard and the front left wheel? I cannot pinpoint exactly where it is. I hear the noise whenever I go over anything that is not smooth, for example gravel, rough pavement, etc. Its almost like something is loose. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the front stabilizer end links, which did not resolve the issue. Wondering if anyone else had this issue?

If I heard that in my car, I'd think it was my brain. I don't seem to have the problem.

I have the same problem, have no idea what it is yet and haven't asked the dealer about it as of yet either. But try this, next time you are in the car and at a stop, shake the steering wheel (as in turn left then right back and forth) really quickly from side to side and see if you can hear it still. On mine I can and I am thinking some sort or linkage or something in the suspension is going bad.

Mine does not have that rattle...but it does rattle from the rear passenger side seat whenever it is in the UP position. I have not taken it to the dealer yet, figured Id wait til I had the next oil change. But it sure is annoying, it happens whenever I turn though not driving over bumps.

Did they check the strut mounts and lower control arm bushings?

My Malibu made clunking sounds when turning and going over an uneven surface, and it was the strut mount.

I had a rattle/squeak and it sounded like it was coming from the rear suspension on rough roads. I checked my back seats and they were not locked in place. Man thye were tough to get locked in. All better now.

same here...

I hear it on the passenger side, when I go over a little bump, or like you said uneven surfaces...

Took it to the dealer (for water problems) and had them check this as well and they could not duplicate it!

So frustrating!!

I had the rattle. I couldn't tell what it was and it was driving me crazy. I took mine to the dealer last Thursday and they replaced something in the steering column and the rattle is now gone. I'm not exactly sure what they replaced but the service paperwork says the Cause was "R&R Steering Column" (sorry, I don't know what that means) but the Part # says 15806195 column kit. Whatever it was, that pesky rattle is now gone.

R&R means Remove and Replace. It's used when removing a component for repair or replacement and reinstalling said component back into the vehicle.

Welcome to the Forum. Great to see another Pacific Northwest HHR onboard.
