Exclamation HHR Recall

Date: 09/04/2008 Subject: Upcoming Noncompliance Recall 08157
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GM SERVICE AND PARTS OPERATIONS

URGENT - DISTRIBUTE IMMEDIATELY
Date: September 4, 2008

Subject: Upcoming Noncompliance Recall 08157 Instrument Panel Storage Bin Door

Models: Certain 2006-2008 Chevrolet HHR

Based on information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website, the media may report that General Motors will be announcing a noncompliance recall involving certain 2006-2008 model year Chevrolet HHR vehicles.

These vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 201, “Occupant Protection in Interior Impact.” In tests, the door on the storage bin in the top center of the instrument panel failed to remain closed as required.

To correct this condition, GM will mail to customers a latch reinforcement. Customers will be given instructions to install the part or have their dealer install it.

A total number of 296,422 vehicles are involved. GM is working with its suppliers to obtain the required latch reinforcements as quickly as possible. Based on the current schedule, we anticipate that parts will be available in November, 2008.

GMVIS information for this recall will not be available until the dealer bulletin is released. Customer notification letters will be mailed in late November, 2008.

Nah, not really. You can bet you already paid for it. Chevrolet is just a bit late in giving it to you.
