HHR SS dash lighting issues
#61
OK, then how about the other side of the BCM? I have experienced shorts on the back side of fuse boxes, after in artfully placing a fuse tap. Perhaps the pins on the connector are pushing the mate thru, or something? That might make some sense if it has been fiddled with a few times. I am still thinking after connecting the BCM connector take wooden or plastic probing thing and push each contact home. PITA, that's why the auto electric guys charge so much, and get away with it, it's not magic, but it sure is tedious!

Anyone have a diagram of the BCM that shows the location of the connectors?
I only see 3 on the passenger side. I was wondering if there may be a few more located on the other side of the unit. Raining today so I wont be doing any fiddling with it.

Check my thinking
After fiddling around a bit I think I stumbled upon something. To loose the lights in the heater controls, rear windshield wiper, steering, moon light and hazard switch all at the same time, you would have to have about 4 different loose connections at once. Highly unlikely. I think the problem is in the INPUT to the BCM that tells it to turn these lights on. In my 2007, when I wiggle the wire harness to the BCM my lights flicker on and off. I am tempted to believe that I have a single loose connection, or a broken wire in the harness. Now that it is warming up, I am going to try and un-tape the harness and see if I can locate a single wire that is responsible. Will post my results.
