HHR Wind Noise Advice?
#22
I hope my AC doesn't ever stop working. There's absolutely no way I can ride with my back windows down. It creates deafening, eardrum-popping air-pressure sounds. NOT cool at all.
Not sure I would've bought this car if I had realized that. I didn't even think to check that because I've never experienced it before, and it was blazing hot when I test drove the car, so I was more concerned with how well the AC worked. If anyone has ANY knowledge of how to stop this awful sound, PLEASE share your info! Thanks!

I now just roll down the fronts and leave the backs up. Doesn't seem to make much difference anyway with the backs up or down.
Fwiw. It's not just a HHR thing. It has to do with modern day cars aerodynamics.
There are many other types of cars out there that will get the "wah, wah" effect with the rear windows down.

My Owners Manual tells me to open the front windows a bit when the rears are open, and it works.
If wind in your face is a problem with just the front window open try opening the corresponding rear window a bit.

I think the wind noise with my car is from the time when she (wife) locked the keys inside. The wrecker service used an air pump door spreader to jack the top of the door out enough to get a wire in to pull the the lock up. I think it affected the way the top of the door shuts (doesn't shut tight at the top).

Hello all,
I have a 2008 HHR LS. On exceptionally windy days, at freeway speeds, I can hear a very annoying wind noise specifically around the passenger side A-pillar. It kind of sounds like a plasticky rattling noise, the kind you hear when going through a drive through car wash and the hot air at the end blasts your windshield, if that makes sense. I know for certain that it's located right around the passenger side, as there's no wind noise at all on the driver's side. I've looked all over and I don't see any trim out of place or weather stripping that's askew.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions for how to cure an annoying wind noise? (generic question, I know)
Aside from this, my HHR hasn't had any other problems to speak of.

Currently we are talking with HHR Amy about her wind noise issue.
You might need to "refresh" your browser, so to speak.....
