Hoping new info on lowering driver seat.

I've poured through a lot of former threads from prior years and just hoping there might be new info on lowering the driver seat.

I have a '10 LT with leather seats, electronic control with adjustable lumbar support (nice...) but at 6'2 and typically sitting upright (permanently sore back)and have the sunroof, my hair is going to wear out the roof lining... Short of buying new seats has anyone come up with a way to lower the stock seats?

My other options are to keep a flat top year round (a lil cool in the winter, working in construction)or maybe wearing a skull cap .

Am going to try driving with the seat pulled up a little and the back back a little more than I usually like and pray that my back puts up with it.

I have some pictures in my gallery of my stock lowered seat. Take a look and see what you think.

Thanks for the pics George! Going to squeeze my head under the seat and see about mocking up something similar to see how the finished product would function.

I just had a look at them - nice bit of fabrication man. Nice and clean - almost looks stock.

Thanks for the compliments. If anybody is considering doing this,it is not as simple as just putting in a new dropped seat bar. A few of the many things you have to consider.
1. My self fabbed bar only drops the rear portion of the seat. The front of the seat mounts directly to the floorpan via two sets of hook mounts. These hooks had to be shaved about a 1/8" to allow the rear to lean down to the lower height of the new rear bar.
2. I got an extra seatbar in case I didn't like my results or I screwed something up. That way, I could go back to stock. Once you cut the original bar,you can't weld it back.
3. This was a trial and error fab job. Having the extra seatbar I was able to use it as a templet of sorts when measuring the new bar.
I am happy with the results. Maybe one of you folks will do this mod and find an even better way.
