How bad is my rear shock?
A while ago I inspected rear brakes and notice that my rear shock on the driver's side is leaking a little bit. Right now it looks like this:
The shock oil is all the way at the bottom of the shock. I think it is time to replace both. The car is 2011 Chevy HHR LT with 73k miles on it and I think the rear shocks are way past their expiration period.
Any suggestion on which ones to get. I was thinking of getting KYB 349043 Excel-G Gas Shocks. A set of 2 for $55 with free shipping. However, I found this question on Amazon.com
Question:
The KYB 349043 shocks do not fit my 2011 HHR LT.
Answer:
Is it possible that SS unibodies were used for LTs? Absolutely possible. If you have the old shocks, maybe try cross-referencing the part number when you talk to KYB. Best of luck to you!
Can somebody confirm that this is true, or there is a possibility that the guy just didn't have enough experience installing shocks.
Thanks.

KYB says 349043 is correct for the LS/LTs (as per their catalogue at KYB Online Parts Catalog).
Go with that. There are several references to those specific shocks here if you wish to use the SEARCH tool and are interested in some of the comments.
It would really help when you refer to something like that comment on Amazon to also include a link to it. Doing so makes it hopefully much easier for someone to comment on it once they read the whole article. Without the link, I can't comment further.

Strange , the KYB shock of the same number has been on Oldblue for sometime now, like 120,000 miles, no leaks , still work as they should, no problems!
Possibly the listing didn't show 2011 in the I fits list! The LS/LT unibody is the same as the SS. It just the shocks and springs are different in the FE 5 suspension
