How long for oil change at your dealer?
Just wondering how long the average is for an oil change if you have it done by your Chevrolet dealer?
I had my HHR's very first oil change done at my dealer yesterday... now I usually don't let them touch my cars since the place is a rip off and I have someone else take car of it but I had a coupon for my first one free so I figured I would have it done for... FREE and pay for my tires to get rotated.
Anyways it took them exactly ONE hour to have the oil change done and tires rotated.
Now I don't want to complain but when I had my Cavalier it only took 20-30 minutes at my regular mechanic but I figured that maybe the HHR is harder to do...
So how long does it take for everyone else?

I would think an oil change should take no more than 15-20 minutes tops...add another 5-10 for the rotation and you should be done withing 1/2 hour.
I can change the oil myself in about 20 minutes...would think a dealer should be able to do it quicker than that!

There are lots of determining factors that can affect the time. The biggest one at dealerships seems to be how busy they are and getting your car into a bay. Even if the oil change only takes like 15-20 minutes you're going to have to wait for an open bay if they're busy or all the bays are tied up. They can't go out in the parking lot and change your oil to save you time. I've had my car in and out for an oil change within like a half hour at my dealership. Then there was a Saturday a few months back when I brought it in for a oil change and I swear everyone who has bought a car from that dealership within the past 20 years was there for service so it took about 2 hours for an oil change because all the bays were tied up with the people that were there before me.

At our Dealer it's first come first served. If you get there when it's busy you might have to wait an hour. If you're the first in line, maybe 20 to 30 minutes. Actually I've never really timed them, I'm not in that big of a sweat!

Actually the HHR is about the easiest vehicle I have ever had to change the oil. As others have mentioned, it could have taken longer becouse they were busy, but it wasn't becouse the HHR is a difficult car to change the oil. just my

Took 50 minutes one time I went it. There were 3 others ahead of me so I had to wait. Went and chatted with my salesman while I waited.
Last time I went in, I just left it there to get some TSB work done and had the oil changed as part of the work for the day.

My first time took 2 hours but I also had them look at the transmission. It slipped from D to I twice. Of course, they found nothing wrong. The second time I had the oil changed and the tires rotated and it only took 30 minutes.
I've been taking my cars to Wal-Mart for many years and I have to arrive at 6am and still wait up to 2 hours. I take the skilled labor at the dealer for a few dollars more any day!

Well how about if I am the only customer there and the only car in the bay... then what?
I'm not totally stupid... I do know that on average it takes someone 20 seconds to drive it to the bay and then maybe 25 to open the door and then less than one minute to have it lifted up....
