How low do you let the oil life get?

If you haven't already done so, change the oil ASAP.
Regardless of what the % reading is, you should change the oil at least every 5000 miles. Personally, I change it about every 4000.
Use only 5W-30 or 10W-30. Regular or synthetic doesn't much matter. Use brand new oil, avoid recycled oil.

With your sound of grave urgency and alarm you have me wondering on what you are basing this on. Do you have any written documentation to substantiate this need to change every 4000 miles, essentially contradicting the vehicle manufacturters' recommendations? Or is is just something you have traditionally done and are comfortable with (2 questions)?
Just wondering...not attempting to start this already debated subject.

I say...... do whatever makes you sleep good at night.....You are going to get 1000 different answers on this topic. Some people believe everything they read, some rely on what they been doing for years, others lean toward dealer recommendations.
Me...I'm old school when it comes to oil changes, 3 months or 3000 miles even with synthetic. I don't care about the extra money. To me it's cheap insurance. It costs me $1.00 a day, or think of it as 1 penny per mile, to stay on this schedule...big whip tee do...
But you should pick what works good for you and follow that particular schedule. BTW to answer the above question.....I don't think mine has ever been below 75%
Why? you may ask.............It "makes me sleep good at night".....Regards

RUDEINC......
That is precisely my point, and what I have been saying on this forum as well as others.....whatever makes you comfortable.
But, when someone says "you must" or "your crazy for not.." or whatever, I want to know if they found some reliable information that suggests someone should change their personal, as well as warranty, strategy. I'm open to making changes. However, don't tell me your method is the best, for everyone else (and me), without providing that reliable documented information.

Well said, and I agree. I do it every 4000 miles, regardless of how many months. That way I don't have to worry about the oil breaking down and providing less protection, or a computer that might be giving me an inaccurate oil life reading.
