Missouri has a lemon law. Maybe you should get a hold of the GM Zone Rep. and discuss your options with them. I realize it's a lease vehicle, however, it was delivered to you as a new vehicle. With your repair history, I'd think even your dealer would like to see you out of the vehicle. If you can't get them to cooperate......well there is always the application of two very large lemon decals that can be placed on the sides of the vehicle. Someone locally did that with a Ford mini-van and it was off the street in 24 hours. If you b***h loud enough and long enough, they will get your point and do something.
Good luck.

Hey Slamed87, i hate your HHR too. You really got a lemon. If i were you and had all the problems you are having with the car, i would be on the phone daily with GM. I'm sure even your dealer is sick of seeing your car. I've learned that if you think you are in the right, and you state your case long enough and often enough people will either hear you or get sick of hearing from you. Let them know that they sold you junk and you will not take it.

That`s the first time I`ve ever heard of someone doing mods of any sort to a lease veh..
That`s pretty much my point, it belongs to someone else, I shouldn`t be doing anything but driving. Like a rental.
I certainly wouldn`t put vent shades or add a lower grill, on a rental .

If GMAC was offereing 0% over 5 years, instead of the 0%/4 year promo they had, we would have bought the car instead.
The only way for us to stick to the lease mileage numbers would be to park the HHR for 5 months of the year...not gonna happen

thanks for all the replys...i was thinking i was gonna catch some major heat over what i said about my hhr.....i made sure my sells rep knows how i feel about it yesterday while i was asking how i get out of the lease and into another vehicle....i know every HHR wont be the same...because ive read and seen quite a few nice quality rides on this site and in person from people coming to Branson...i seen my first 2 door the other day...red with all the back windows filled in and all the seems welded in....looked really nice........
all in all my HHR experiance has not been a good one....if i did get another car it wouldnt be another HHR .......
Especialy since after they told me the transmission was fixed and now its not.....i didnt drive the car till after i posted this....the tranny is still shifting hard ...the check engine light when off...i have a feeling they didnt even check the transmission out..just hooked their computer to it..ran the codes then reprogrammed it.......then called me to come get it....
For those asking why i leased....heres why...Im 24 years old and last year when i bought it was in the process of building my credit...they told me i didnt qualify for the purchase option but did for the gmac smart lease...so i took it knowing that i wasnt going to be keeping it because i really needed a larger vehicle for my family....2 kids and the wife in this car is pushing it....
so i did the lease option because i needed a new car badly and thought the hhr would be a good choice for me.......hell i didnt even get to lease the HHR i wanted.......i wanted leather, sunroof, chrome and all....they only gave me the one i test drove....which is ok but the grey cloth interior sucks.......
anyway i need to figure something out about getting out of this lease...im going to call the dealer and report the tranny issue and i think i will speak with the service manager and see what my options are...

Personally I think they saw you coming and took you for what they could. I never finance through the dealership. They want you to lease. That way, they know you have to come back at least to return it. You make payments pretty close to purchasing, make a down payment, etc. Then have to bring it back.

yeah...lucky for me i didnt put a dime down...nor did i trade anything...they wanted to give me 200 for a 90 chrysler new yorker for 30,000 og miles on it...i told them no.....so they said fine you keep the car...we will wave the deposit and give you 2 months till your first payment.....so i never paid a dime to drive away....they also screwed me on my payment date...the sales manager told me i could pay on the 15th instead of the first...he lied....so in order for me to pay then i have to pay to move the date.....bs i say......
also i called today about the tranny issue again...the check engine light is back on......they told me they didnt get any codes from it and that they didnt feel it when they drove it....i even spoke to the service manager...he said itll be next week before they get to me....

Hey, forget your sales rep, and the dealership for that matter, you need to get after the manufacturer. Don't hesitate, get after the zone rep and don't let up until you get satisfaction. Don't forget these b*****ds stuck you with a lemon of a vehicle and a lemon of a lease. You would be surprised what a few dollars spend having an attorney write them a "helpful" letter, will do for your cause. Dude, it's your money and your life...don't let them push you around!

I agree with Black Beauty. I have never leased and (hopefully) never will. It just wouldn't feel right, not "owning" my car. If it were a purchased car, would seem a prime case for Lemon Law manufacturer buy-back. On a lease, maybe some portion of the lease paid could be refunded?
