Sleeper, you have an 08 right? According to the notice chevy mgr posted the 08s only got an increased warranty for the issue. Sucks but that's what they are doing.

Pitbull- Yep mine is an '08.. I'm happy GM extended the Ignition warranty for 10 yrs from original date of being in service..

& I hope to hear something soon from one who is connected..(no hurry)

Either way, it'll work out.. I think a lot depends on the dealership..

xonelife1983x- I would definately pursue getting your money back..It is a warranty covered problem..
Even calling the 1.800 number in back of the owners manual & let them know the deal..

The Express is an 08 Panel

I had the key stuck in the ignition thing a few weeks back and paid for the replacement out of pocket. Then I heard through here about the extended warranty and took the Service bulletin number and my paper work for the repair back to the dealer that did the repair.

They pulled the bulletin up on the computer and checked it against my service paperwork. Printed out refund paperwork for me to sign, and I am waiting on my refund check now.

The bulletin is specific to key sticking in the ignition.

Cheers
Doc

CONDITION
On some 2007-2008 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5, and 2008-2009 Chevrolet HHR vehicles may develop a binding condition between the ignition lock cylinder and the housing. If this occurs, it may be difficult to turn the ignition key and/or remove it from the ignition. If the vehicle is running, the driver may not be able to turn the vehicle off.

Can anyone shed some light here.. I'm not having problems, but thought better to replace soon, & avoid any possible headaches.
Please, send me a private message with your VIN. I would like to research my avenues for you.

Actually the new cylinder is tighter than the original! Hope this helps...john

Service department at Tom Benson Chevrolet in San Antonio, Texas told me today that the warranty on the ignition has been extended but it must break before they will fix it. (under warranty)

I guess that may save them some $$ in the long run but it can put us owners in a bind when it happens.
