Took my 2009 to the dealer today to get the service air bag light checked out (not happy with that since the car is out of warranty) and the service guy informed me of the recall, so they are going to fix that while the car is there. I had the key get stuck in the ignition a couple weeks after I bought the HHR in October 2011, so I'm happy to glad that GM is going to warranty that.

I had the key stuck in the ignition thing a few weeks back and paid for the replacement out of pocket. Then I heard through here about the extended warranty and took the Service bulletin number and my paper work for the repair back to the dealer that did the repair.

They pulled the bulletin up on the computer and checked it against my service paperwork. Printed out refund paperwork for me to sign, and I am waiting on my refund check now.

The bulletin is specific to key sticking in the ignition.

Cheers
Doc
I have to give props to Colonial Chevrolet In Norfolk, VA.

Got home today to find a check for the refund on my ignition cylinder replacement in the mail box. I was not expecting this for another 2 weeks.

Cheers
Doc

Great to hear Doc, shoot a PM to Michelle at Chevrolet and she'll give your dealer an official "pat on the back" from the mother ship in Detroit.

Contact your local Chevrolet dealership to inquire about this since you haven't experienced any concerns with the ignition switch.

Reimbursement

About 2 weeks after my car was repaired I received my notice/recall in the mail.

I filled out the forms and sent a copy of my repair bill to GM. They called me a few days later and told me I qualified for reimbursement and that they would be sending a check to cover what I paid out of pocket.
Within 5 days I had the check in hand. Awesome service!
I just wish the letter would have come before I had the problem!
