Interior door handle cable help

guess its my curse to break things. . . while trying to repair/replace stuff on my Hhr(s).
I had the driver door handle break, so i bought the repair kit and finally had a morning with out rain.

Look at pic 5 in this link.
Its the plastic piece at the end of the cable. Well thats what i broke.

its a speaker thread but.. it shows what i am talking bout.

Any way to replace it.. with out a whole new one any help is appreciated.

When mine broke, I used a tie wrap to secure the cable

It's the retainer clip to hold the cable in place and keeps it aligned straight. Doubt that clip is available by itself but you could ask your dealer.
Or do as Steve suggested and secure it with some other type fastener.

When I had mine apart last month to repair my handle, I took a close look at that clip and it's design. I remember saying, "What idiot designed this cheap little clip and why."
A nice metal clip and lock down screw used to be the way cable housing ends were secured.

That same thing happened to me too!

I didn't know there was a fix for it, so a zip tie works?

I just put it all back together and no problems yet, but I would like to make sure it's fixed if a zip tie will work.

I have 2 motors that I am going to replace the back doors with and as I attempted to change one, I couldn't figure out how to get to the motor and when I gave up and put it back in, that's when I broke it.

The lock motors are part of the latch mechanism, you need to replace the whole thing.

If you are meaning those after market plunger motors; you have drill holes and mount them. I did that on all 4 doors on my Mazda, not sure if it would work on the HHR.

Oh, you mean I broke the clip? I just pushed the barrel part back close and pretended it wasn't broke. If you get the old one off you might try taking it into NAPA they have a book full of that kind of thing.

Yeah, that's the same thing that broke on mine in yellow.

And no, I was able to get ahold of the actual motors gm uses inside the actuator with the gear and everything.

But when I attempted to replace it, it looked like everything was riveted shut.

There is a post on here that shows the front being done with no rivets, but the back seems to be different.
