Interior Rattle Question

I have a 2008 HHR SS and I have a rattle coming from the center console area. The sound is reproducible at highway speeds on smooth or rough pavement. I have had the console apart but could not find the source of the rattle. The sound is not the front tray because I have already fixed this rattle. It sounds like it maybe coming from the parking brake lever. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Welcome to the fray Kevin.
The console top is a seperate piece to the base. I would make sure that it is properly seated, and the rear power port is tight in its seat. Flexing those items on my console leads me to believe that one of these is your most likley culprit ( but I reserve the right to be wrong).

My rattle is intermittent and I can't find the source either.

I had a rattle or creak from the Shifter surround. I used bytl rubber like they use for windshield deals to make padding to stop it.

The part it the piece under the chome trim.

The colder it was the worse it was. Now I am good at 70 degrees to -20.

Look for the inner supports where they go over the lower part of the condsole. The rubber I used is gummy and keeps it from rubbing and making noise. Works like a gasket and still lets everything go back in place.

The plastic on plastic is what is making the noise.

my 08 has rattles in the drivers side a pillar and b pillar, but even worse at high speeds it sounds like the drivers door is coming open, over 100 mph at 135 it gets really bad , maybe I should try turning my air knob to recirculate instead of fresh.

Where did you get the bytl rubber from? My console does the same thing

The guy who changed out my windshield in my old truck gave me two rolls of it and said it was good to keep on hand. There were many uses for it.

It is a roll of rubber with a paper strip on it so it will not stick together.

I have used it for many things over the last couple years.

You should be able to get it at a glass shop. There are other things that would work too but I had this and it worked fine. It takes very little to fix the console. So don't buy too much. Just a few inches would do.
