Question for joeymollo: have you taken the battery to an autoparts store to have them test it on a load tester to determine the health of the battery?

Here I go again, Mike........

Sweet Jesus, God Almighty. Why does someone join a forum and ask questions about a car problem and NOT TAKE THE ADVISE.........THINKING(your word) they know better. Why did you ask questions if you THOUGHT you knew better?

My God, Joey. The FIRST step in determining your problem is to see if the battery is strong enough to provide extended service. YOU HAVE NOT DONE THIS YET.

And I knew you used a trickle charger......so your battery knowledge is limited (not a slam, just fact). A trickle charger, at maybe 1 amp/hr, might bring your battery up to start level but it will not charge to a sufficient level to maintain a battery......at least not in a 12 hour period. Driving the vehicle for the next hour maybe 2 hours at highway speeds might.....with a limited amount of accessory use.

A battery requires various levels of Voltage, amperage and wattage to really charge to the value. A 12 volt 1 amp trickle will not do it.

Rant is over....I'm done with this guy, he's hopeless.

I have some info someplace regarding one company's theory on proper charging. They have been in business for about 10-15 years and, according to many reports, build the BEST charger on the market. I'll post it if I find it.

You are aware that there are several circuits that are operating at all times, (OnStar, remote entry receiver, anti-theft) and all draw a small amount of current that will drain a 5 year old battery?

Just because some people get 10 years out of an original battery doesn't mean YOU will. Five years is about the average lifespan.

Just curious as to why you "unhooked negative terminal, when I stopped and had to leave lid open for any length of time"?????? Must not have really been convinced that the battery was good.....

This is pretty tame. Don't venture over to Pirate 4x4 if you think this is attitude.

Several times it was suggested to go to the auto parts store for a FREE battery test, but Joeymollo is insisting his battery is ok, even to the point of risking serious damage to the electronics in the car by running it with the battery disconnected, like he was testing the mechanical regulator in a 66 Bel-Air.

After a while, you start to wonder whether or not the poster is a troll.
