got our used hhr 3 days ago. one of the fobs wasn't working. had to resolder the batt hold down. i think the reason for solder connections coming loose has to do with manufacturers using lead free solder. it doesnt seem to be as strong as old leaded solder. xbox motherboards have had same issue.

E-Z both of my fobs broke to, you can try to solder them back to see if it would work, and it son't need to be reprogram they will work, but I sent my fobs to this place I found on Ebay called Midwest keyless, it cost me $36.00 for both of my fobs to be fix, I got them back and they work great, he do a pretty good job, he replace the old case, the pad, cleaned the board, and solder the battery hold back, took about a week, good luck.

I can't solder to save my life, so, one night while stuck in traffic, I was stuck in front of a small electronics repair place. Guy soldered it back to together, put in a fresh battery, while I waited. It took 5 minutes, charged me $5, gave him $10.

I had one fob stop working and the other was intemittant. When I opened the fob both had broken solder joints. I resoldered them and all is well 90,000 miles later. I bought my 2007 HHR used with 48,000 miles on it and it now has 138960.

Keep in mind it is not always just the solder joints. I resoldered mine and it still didn't work. The contacts on the rubber pad looked worn, so I replaced that (about $8 on ebay). It worked fine. So before you get it reprogrammed, with the fob open close the contacts on the pc board gently with a small screwdriver. If the locks work replace the rubber contact pad. You don't want to waste money reprogramming if it doesn't need it.
