Key wouldnt turn off alternate problem
About 2 years ago my key quit turning off. A quick google search put me here and I was able to get the key off and out. I pulled the shifter out but the pin seemed ok and started working properly for a month or so. Then it started again. So I just dealt with it until about a week ago I decided to fix it. So I pulled it apart. The pin was still intact and it started working again. This time only about 2 days. Over the weekend I pulled it apart again and found that the pin was somehow getting on the other side of the little lever on the switch. So I decided I was going to "FIX" it this time. I removed the switch and zip tied it shut and it seems to be working now

It's a multi-part solution. You may also need a new brake pedal position sensor, a new ignition cylinder, a new brake pedal interlock solenoid. Or just a NEW shifter assy.
Some WD40 on the solenoid helped mine, when I could not push the lever button.
