I fought the same problem for a while. I finally purchased a new key fob from ebay for < $20 and it cost $25 for the dealer to program it. A lot cheaper than what they were asking for one. In the meantime, here is what I did to avoid the alarm

A) After passengers are out and all doors are shut, use the power lock to lock all doors. Unlock your door by pulling up the lock rod on the door panel, get out and push it down to lock the door. When you open the door the next time with the key, the alarm won't sound

B) After passengers are out and all doors are shut, barely open the door to the point where it is just centimeters from being latched and then press the power lock to lock all the doors. When the door is in this position, the alarm believes the door is shut completely and doesn't engage the alarm when opened with a key. This option takes a bit of getting use to, but it's what I used the most.

Good luck!

The solution in post #10 sounds so much easier. I'll try it tonight when my wife get's home and verify whether or not it works but if Mike says it works, I believe him.

Well, I noticed that if I took the back off of the fob, and placed my finger on the back of the board, for pressure, that every single button press registered perfectly fine. So, I went with the foam rubber solution, pointed out in one of the threads, and it appears to have solved the problem. Just cut a half circle out of the insert from an old pair of shoes, trimmed it for depth, and placed it inside the back of the fob, opposite the buttons.

So far, so good.

I just glued a piece of tinfoil on the lock button on our fob. It was so worn my wife could not press it hard enough to work. I tried cleaning it, but the carbon was too worn. I bit of silicone, and a pair of tweezers......done. Now I can arm it from the front door to the street.

I noticed a GM fob case replacement in the Dorman Help section of my local Advance store the other day, I think it was under $10 inlcudes new silicone. That is about what I paid on Ebay for the same item.
