Tell your dealer about it and say there is a TSB on it. That should take care of things.

Angry Car Won't Start Key Stuck in Ignition

I am new to this forum, so please bear with me.

I have had this happen to my car more times than I can count. I got the car used and suspect that is why the first owner sold it. To make matters worse, I have had both the shifter and the steering column replaced (extended warranty and insurance paid for it) to the tune of almost $3,000 dollars. It is still doing it. I have to call a wrecker when this happens. The last one got it started because he was able to wrestle the steering wheel out of a locked position. I do not have that kind of strength. I had to wait 1-1/2 hours for the wrecker. I love the looks of the car, but I am one unhappy camper about it not starting. I don't expect to have to hold my mouth in a certain way and have the sun shining from the east to start the stupid car.

Chevy said they replaced a selenoid, I saw that the SHIFT CONSOL had been opened and greases. the mechanic said the cable was the issue, not releasing / alining the lock. I found on real cold days sometimes I have to slam the shifter into park.

other than this the car has been great, no noises as others have had.

No power means battery is dead.

If battery is dead, key will not come back out of cylinder.

Others mentioned trap door under steering column to release key.

Energizing system as in boost/jump will restore normal key removal.

Ignition problem

'07 HHR After quite a few times plus way too much for a new ignition switch we finally leaned about a locked steering wheel. Anytime it was locked the key will not turn. Just jiggle the steering wheel back & forth while pulling on the key & out it comes ! Then works normally till the next time. You can turn the wheel right or left anytime to lock the wheel too !
