If you don't post the actual code, any suggestions would be a guess.

You can find the location of the knock sensor by using the SEARCH tool near the top of the page. There is a full description on the location and replacement in the How-to section.

Code numbers would help. For example there it's a code for low antifreeze there is a code for low coolant temperature. Your knock sensor may not be bad it may be reading your tick noise as a knock

Well what engine do you have? You say it's not a 2.4 but that doesn't tell us anything.

And like I said before - you need to post the code. We can't help you much without it.

Thanks lucky. I thought it might be reading the tick as well. She cleared the codes so I can't get them till cel comes back on.

Whopper.... I posted in 2.2l area figured that was tell enough on I had 2.2...

Being that this is a trouble/malfunction thread, let's move it over to the proper section.

That's the easy part, providing any useful advice is without the trouble codes is next to impossible.

So when the CEL pops up again, post the codes up and then we can give more accurate advice.

Ahhh - I missed that, as I browse via listing "Todays postings" and assumed it was in the Problem section as it related to a problem. Glad 843de spotted it and moved it.

The basic difference between the 2.4 and the 2.2 is the cylinders. Except for 2006-2008 MY which have some different electronics.

So, if you see diagrams for a 2.4L you could just look at the 2.2L to verify that it is the same. Very likely it is.

Or look at your 2006 Service Manual.

If its in same location don't look too hard. Looks like a tight squeeze but not to time consuming. I'm waiting for cel to come back on to have the code pulled instead of her reading it to me. Before I replace anything.
