What oneton stated also may be true about the filter and cap alignment. Further investigation is warranted. But I think that our oil can last 5000-12000 miles but not All of our filters, even oem, can last that long.

I have tried to track this twisting phenomenum for a while. Since I tout oem parts at our new owners clinics, I wanted to have some facts to tell new customers. Every time the filter is twisted the techs write down a vin and how many miles it had been since the last oil change. Briefly, lowest mileage was 4946 and highest was 12101.

I am going to put a new filter in at 50% oil life. It's easy and I can check the filter for problems.
