Unhappy Is it a Lemon?

New 2009 HHR SS, bought 10/1, electrical gremlins have rendered it unusable 8 days in one month, it will now go back to service for the 4th. time... I'm starting to have no confidence in driving it, I loose all power steering and wipers as well as airbags. I love the way it looks and the way it handles (the few times I have been able to drive it), I don't need a driveway ornament.

Sounds like a BCM to me. Has it been replaced or reprogrammed?

Find a dealer that has a good Techs ! ! ! What is your dealer saying about it. Did they look at the under hood fuse box. Did you say in one of your post that you or they played with that and it was ok for a few days or was that someone else

If was missing it would never have run in the first place, I would say a poor connection was more in line....

Did it run ok when you had the part from another car in yours and it now that they put in the part that was on ordered it's doing it again?

I can't get it to the dealer I bought it from (too far to drive without power steering), and that dealer hasn't returned my calls. The local dealer has been doing the work & supplying me with loaner cars. The first time I lost the steering & wipers I went under the hood & checked the fuses and got it working again. When the local dealer went to trouble shoot they diagnosed the fuse holder under the hood to be bad. Said the part was on back order so they pulled something off the lot to get me going. I went back in this week as the ordered part had come in, got it replaced, drove a couple of miles and lost the steering again. Brought it back in, they worked on it some more & it supposedly was fixed. 10 miles later its broke again!

I feel real bad for you, Get a new cool car and can't drive it. It sounds like they are close or are just moving things around and it starts to work so they give it back to you. Have you talked to the service manager or shop forman to see if they are aware of what is going on with your car. I am a retired GM Tech 27yrs. at Chevy dealers in south east MA. then moved to FL. East Freetown MA. is where I was from. I would call them Monday AM and ask to speak the the service manager tell him what has happened and if you have the car tell them to bring you a loner and pick up your car. Tell him that you are scared to drive it. Let us know or PM me.

I wouldn't call it lemon yet. You just got a little gremlin in there mucking around. They'll find him eventually.

I had electrical problems the first month with the airbags and lights. A new BCM and SDM module later and it's been gravy since.

Thanks for the Ideas

I couldn't get ahold of a live person, yesterday being Sunday with the dealerships, service, and Chevrolet being closed. However first thing this morning the Service Director brought me a loaner & took my car back. Of course, my car decided it would run correctly today... I'm probably getting lots of Crazy Woman thoughts right now! The Service Director did mention the BCM though.

Just remind them that the steering going out is a safety issue, that could cause an accident..... maybe they will spend a little mopre time with it then....
