Lighting / Control Issues

For me I have a couple rants. The dash lights only come on with the sensor, not the light switch which makes overcast days a drag. I didn't believe the first dealer so I brought it to another and the confirmed it was correct. Please tell me if your dash panel (gauges) lights will turn on before the sensor takes over.

Location of the window switches! WTF there is plenty of room on the door panels (Where mine will end up). But what were they thinking by not illuminating them? Safety hazard if you ask me with the right person behind the wheel not paying attention to the road.

Welcome to our world!

There is a good thread with a step-by-step for backlighting the window switches.

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-tutorial-library-21/backlit-window-buttons-1878/

Gonna do mine too. got all the materials just need to make the time.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, the cup holder are real handy too, NOT!

It amazes me that for such a well designed car, GM would do something like not have any window controls on the door.

the window switches are lit up by the LED in the ceiling

This is true...but that sure is a cheesy way to illuminate them.

In my opinion, they should be on the doors...not down there.

And I agree about the way the lights are controlled. Dash lights should go on when you manually turn on the lights. We should be able to control how we want them to work. Oh well...I'm learning to live with it all.

I like the switches in the center but they should be behind the shifter not in front of it. It sucks to put your windows up and down while in park where they are now.

I guess I am just not understanding the dash lights issue. Headlights on or off I can see them just fine. I can turn them up brighter or dimmer. The turn signal stalk can turn the auto lights off and headlights on manually. I am confused!

Let me see if I can clarify this for you. I haven't tried this myself, so I can't say from personal experience.

The problem seems to be that if you turn your lights on manually at dusk, the dash lights do not come on at the same time, thus making it hard to see the guages.

Guess I will go out tonight at dusk and check this out.
