I can't believe you said those two words in the same sentence!

Is it possible even though you had the parking brake off, maybe the brakes were dragging? Sometimes when a car sits, the brakes stick a little.

If the parking brakes were dragging for 20 mi., there`s a problem.
They would`ve been red hot also.

So I guess you could say that in the above brake check procedure the DIC points more towards it was a limp mode [glitch]. I can't believe I just typed that.
What I meant was that most cars would not move forward with the emergency brake on but the HHR does. Yes, I saw the message in the DIC but I'm usually not looking there when I start to move forward. I'm looking down the road. I don't recall hearing a chime. I'm sure it will happen again so I'll pay more attention next time.

It wasn't limp mode either than. When your car enters "limp mode" there is a display in the DIC that reads "ENGINE REDUCED POWER" or something to that effect. I haven't seen it in a while but I have seen it. The Computer only allows your throttle to be opened part way as well when this happens. BUT there is a message on the DIC when it goes into limp mode. So, no display, no limp mode.

Maybe it was bad gas in the lines? Or something like that. I know if mine sits for more than a couple days it hesitates for a few miles. But then clears right up and goes.

Is there really a limp mode?? if so why? I know I have backed out of my drive way with the e brake on just slightly ( because I don't used it but my wife does) and I didn't hear any warning or indicator chime, but when I put it in drive and go to leave I noticed it right away.

One of the first things that I had my dealer do, when I took delivery, is to adjust the hand brake. At time of assembly, they are set to a prescribed position, which essentially is just an assembly line position. Understand at this point the brakes have never been applied, by pedal. Also generally, with this (non) adjustment the car can be moved in Reverse but encounters a strong resistance in Drive.

When GM tests these cars, part of the schedule is to stop on a 30% and 40% incline and apply the parking brake.....it must hold....or it is marked as a negative on the schedule and the engineering group or the technician group, depending on the result, makes the necessary correction.

My driveway is a 30% incline to the garage. I park frequently on that incline. I always test to assure the hand brake holds before shifting to Park(no trans. torque lock that way).

Because of cable stretch, wear of brakes or whatever, the hand brake will need an occassional adjustment.

My blow hard point here is.......get the parking brake adjusted.
