I have a 2010 HHR 67k miles .. been a great car so far .. only work needed was a wheel bearing ..warranty .. but Yesterday .. left the house, went to stop sign at end of street , started to accelerate and POP, the car just revved and wont go forward, and had slight grinding noise.. like drive axle had broke or came out part way.. cant go any where .. no matter the gear.. had it towed to dealer since still has drive train warranty.. I hope its covered as it should be!

Prob be Monday before they even look at it .. and prob take a week to get fixed

 

Well found out what it was .. planetary gear in the transmission.. thank god was under warranty still.
But not real sure if I will be keeping it if the trans did this at 67k ! ??!!?

 

Sounds like a pretty freak thing there.. Can't say I have ever heard of that happening here anyhow..

 

Low/Reverse planet gear carriers can "blow up" at 67k miles. A needle bearing from one of the three the pinion gears probably came out and caused the grinding noise that you heard.
Hopefully they'll give you a new transmission, not repair the old one.
