Taxes on gas make a huge difference. NC has the highes gas taxes in the south. You can go to a nieghboring state and save 10 to20 cent a gallon. My low full has an audible beeb and the dic flashes up low fuel at about 40 miles to go.

Once again, fuel prices seem arbitrary in my town,Chi-Town. Prices vary (at same brands) block to block. Neighborhood to neighborhood.

I try to keep an eye on it and I know that I have to refuel every 10 days or so (45 miles per day round trip to work). Anyone else have this issue, or do I need to have mine looked at?
Difinitely not worth a trip to the dealership.
Who needs a computer to tell you when you need gas?! Although mine has warned me of low fuel, several times in one day, I could tell just by looking at the gas gauge.

I know that E ≠ Enough!

When the dash says Fuel Low

I can tell you when you get the Fuel Low message you have about 15 miles left to drive. I think the position of the car also effects the issue. I learned the hard way!

I have seen the gas light come on before but it didn't this weekend and I put 15.9 gallons in it. I usually fill up in Gainesville FL before heading back home but they have about 10 cents per gallon extra in taxes. I thought I'd catch a cheeper station in the next county then I totally forgot. Fortunately, I didn't run out!

I had the battery cover off when I tried to jump my van with a dead battery. I may have loosened a fuse since others have mention that is a problem!

Only 15?!?!
Mine can go at least another 40 miles when the DIC warns "low fuel".

I have only seen my low fuel warning message come on once since I bought my HHR and that was when I was pulling into the gas station! I got 15.7 gallons into the tank, meaning I had 1/2 gallon of gas left. I have been complaining about this from day one. The dealer replaced the fuel level sensor in the gas tank just last week, but it didn't make any difference. My low fuel range message comes on at 40 miles. I agree with you that the message should come on earlier. The dealer had called technical assistance and they said that I should find something better to do with my time than worry about when the low fuel message should come on. Maybe this is a normal condition and varies from vehicle to vehicle? The BCM controls this feature, so maybe it is a software/programming issue. I was glad to see your post. Now I don't feel like I am the only one here that feels this way!

I doubt I will ever see mine come on. I never let mine get that low. Only time that will happen is when there is no choice, as no station is available. My wifes comes on at 3 gallons left. Only time that is seen is on a road trip, maybe. I don't like idiot lights, even the MPG for mine is always 2 MPG's high.

Well, with 50 miles remaining before a refuel, the Low Fuel light comes on for me.
